The focus of Uppsala book club is primarily on NON-FICTION, English is our lingua franca, and the sessions will involve debates that are moderated. Participation in a meeting only requires one commitment: reading the selected book in advance.

The topic for the next session is artificial intelligence and the reading is Brian Christian (2020) The Alignment Problem. As a benefit, members of the group will have access to an electronic version of the chosen title which can be accessed on the group’s Facebook Page. Please make sure to register to that page to get access to the books, regular announcements, member’s list and others. Meetings are held regularly, every one to two months, and include discussions lasting two and half hours, followed by relaxed get-togethers over beers. Essentially, this book club marries academic rigor with an amicable social setting, allowing for both learning and the forging of new friendships. Our aim? To foster a community that extends beyond the boundaries of our meetings.
