Housing

One of the first things to consider before moving to Sweden is finding a place to live. The process of finding a flat or house will vary. In larger cities (in Stockholm particular), the housing market can be quite competitive, making it relatively difficult to find housing. In other areas, it can be much easier. Wherever you plan to move, leave plenty of extra time for your housing search. This is especially valid for Stockholm as there’s a shortage of apartments for rent in most parts of the city and the waiting time for an apartment is long. The alternative is of course buying your own place, but the prices are high as a result of high demand and under supply on the market. On the other hand, there are many nice areas outside the city center that are well worth looking into, since public transportation around Stockholm is very well connected.
